Williams displayed his work by tagging local billboards, storefronts, and playgrounds using HYPE as his graffiti tag. "That's probably what stimulated my interests in color," he says. "I wanted to be Basquiat or Keith Haring of the streets. In 1993 he then launched his own production company which was called Big Dog Films and made his first major hip- hop video in 1994 which was Wu-Tang Clan's "Can It Be All So Simple." after the video was first aired on mtv many offers began pouring in for his work and direction and Williams took on as many as he could having so much on his plate being offered soo much work directing numerous videos every year until the decade's end.

this is a dvd to watch, pay attention!
In general people always seem to have a positive response to his work by having positive comments about the videos he has made on youtube. The intended audience is the hip-hop/ R’N’B audience
his work is very much targeted towards a younger audience most of the projects he has worked on are usual R'N'B or hip-hop based which this type of music suits more of a younger generation for example his film Belly he directed was all based on hip-hop culture.

Hype Williams is the king of music videos. He was the first person to revolutionize music videos in the late 90's, early 00's and many of the things he has done have become used in everything from movies to commercials. I would love to see him direct a big budget hollywood movie because I know he has the potential to sit next to Cameron, Jackson and the like cause I sense he has a high movie I.Q. like they do. Man if only Hollywood give him the opportunity.
this is a response found on IMDB.com clearly from the comments above it will portray hype as a very skilled and obviously well known director who is very experianced in music videos being involved in them for so long also commercials and he has even directed his own film he is popular and this response shows that people would like to see him direct a higer budget hollywood film.

In most of his music videos ive noticed that his trade mark is to use the letter box picture ratio on screen, he's used this in videos such as Kanye west gold digger, Jay-z empire state of mind, notorius B.I.G big poppa and many more.
he has worked on so many different projects there is a record of this on his offcial website http://www.hypewilliams.com/bio.html he has directed musicvideos for starz such as TLC, Jay-z, LL cool j, biggie smalls, R.kelly and many more, he is one of the most established and most respected directors in this field of the media, and it is more like clients are more honoured to have had a music video directed by him then him being honoured to make there music video because has such a positive reputation.
